Having enjoyed a great summer in Ireland of sea swims , days at the beach and lots of outdoor sports its time to cosy up and settle into cooler days with soft knits and warming fires. I love the combination of gold and rich gemstones at this time of year , there is something comforting about wearing deep tones of garnet and amythest with my cashmere seaters and jeans. I have designed some new earrings and necklaces using gold circles and discs all handmade in my studio in Kerry . These earrings were inspired by the rich conkers or horse chestnuts that are falling from the trees near my home , many years ago when I was studying to become a window dresser in London I peeled the skin from hundreds of conkers with a little stanley knife to make a leaf shape in a frame to be used in a jewellery window display. Maybe it sparked something in me that years later I recreated in these earrings? What do you think?
